What is MV88+ Video Kit?
The Shure MV88+ Video Kit is a stereo condenser microphone kit for smartphones and tablets. Shure calls it a mobile professional recording rig. It connects directly to Apple devices via Lightning, and to selected other devices via USB-C.
The kit includes a Manfrotto PIXI mini tripod, a phone clamp and shoe mount, USB-C and Lightning cables, and a neoprene roll-up bag. The included mount also fits any tripod with a 1/4-inch-20 connector.
Recording is controlled through the free MOTIV apps. Five DSP presets (Speech, Singing, Flat, Acoustic Instrument, Loud), mic gain and stereo width can be adjusted, and recording is 24-bit / 48 kHz. A MOTIV Video app is also available for video shooting.
The microphone has a headphone output for real-time monitoring. It is aimed at portable use: live performance, field recording, interviews, audio for video, and vocal or instrument recording. It may suit people who want convenient high-quality recording on the go rather than a main studio mic.
