What is Nexadyne 8?
The Shure Nexadyne 8 is a dynamic vocal microphone built for the stage on Shure's patented dual-engine transducer design. Shure says two precisely calibrated transducers shape the frequency response before the signal ever reaches the board.
There are two models by pattern. The 8/C is cardioid, with a natural, wider pickup. The 8/S is supercardioid, which Shure says offers maximum rejection of cymbal bleed, monitor wash and crowd noise. The hardware platform is shared.
Shure describes the tone as having midrange body, transparent highs and warmth that sits in the mix without heavy processing. It also says a hotter output gives more gain before feedback.
The body has a dent-resistant hardened grille and a discreet black finish, built for touring. A mic clip and zippered case are included. For home recording, it may be a candidate for singers who perform live and want the same microphone for vocal tracking.
Dual-engine transducer design
Two transducers shape the signal inside the microphone. Shure says this means less corrective EQ and faster soundchecks.
Two patterns (8/C and 8/S)
Choose cardioid for a natural pickup or supercardioid for tighter rejection, depending on how dense the stage is.
Hotter output and gain headroom
Shure says the hotter signal gives more gain before feedback and more headroom.
Midrange body, transparent highs
Shure lists midrange body, transparent highs and warmth that needs little processing, aimed at placing vocals in a band mix.
Dent-resistant hardened grille
The hardened grille and black finish suit frequent travel, and replacement grilles are offered separately.
Clip and case included
A mic clip and zippered case are included, ready for carrying to gigs.
Wireless capsule versions exist
Wireless capsule versions (such as RPW202) are listed as related products, for those who go wireless on stage.

- ANXNC zippered case
- A25E microphone clip
How to use it
- Mount the microphone in the clip and fix it to a stand.
- Connect the XLR output to an interface mic input with an XLR cable.
- As a dynamic microphone it generally does not need phantom power.
- Place it a few centimeters to about 10 cm from the mouth, angled slightly.
- Start with low gain and raise it while singing normally.
- Choose cardioid for a natural pickup, or supercardioid to reject more surrounding noise.
- Adjust the distance to your singing style and listen for the bass boost when close.
- Use a windscreen (such as the optional A85WS) if needed.
Live and stage
Shure positions it for the stage; its gain headroom is intended for venues from small clubs to large arenas.
Home vocal recording
Worth trying for singers who want to track with the same mic they use live.
Band rehearsals
The supercardioid version may help reduce spill from other instruments in the room.
Singer-songwriter streaming
As an XLR dynamic it may work for streaming through an interface.
Who it may suit
- Those who want the same vocal mic for live and studio
- Singers who want vocals to stand out in a band
- Those looking for a higher-output mic less prone to feedback
- Performers who travel often
Good to know before you buy
- There are two models (8/C and 8/S) with different patterns; check before buying.
- It is XLR only, not USB.
- Numeric specs such as frequency response and sensitivity are not shown on the official page body.
