What is SC408?

The SC408 is EVE Audio's largest current 4-way active monitor, aimed at large control rooms and studios according to the Media Integration page.

Two 8-inch woofers cover 32 Hz to 250 Hz, while a 5-inch midrange and an AMT RS3 tweeter sit on a center plate.

The plate rotates 90 degrees for horizontal or vertical placement. Each driver has its own PWM amplifier, with 800 W total short-term output.

The DSP is controlled with a push-knob for volume and filters, and XLR and RCA inputs are provided.

4-way design

Two woofers, a midrange and a tweeter are each driven by their own amplifier, with crossovers at 250 Hz and 3000 Hz.

AMT RS3 tweeter

It uses the Ribbon System 3 tweeter with a large magnet.

Rotating center plate

The plate holding the midrange and tweeter rotates 90 degrees for horizontal or vertical placement.

Silver-cone woofers

A honeycomb core coated with fiberglass, with 1.5-inch voice coils.

Rounded bass port

Designed to keep low-end distortion low at high volume.

DSP filters

High shelf (-5 to +3 dB), desk filter and low shelf (-5 to +3 dB) are adjustable.

How to use it

1. Place the speakers and rotate the center plate to match horizontal or vertical placement.
2. Connect the power cable.
3. Connect the audio interface via XLR.
4. Set the input level to +7 dBu or +22 dBu.
5. Set volume with the push-knob.
6. Adjust shelf and desk filters to the room.
7. Prepare two units for stereo.
8. Use level-fix and filter-fix once settings are decided.

Large control room

As a large 4-way model, it may suit final checks in a big room.

Mastering

It may be worth considering for checking lows down to 32 Hz.

Vertical placement
