What is SC3070?

The SC3070 is a tri-amplified three-way active midfield monitor from EVE Audio. The maker says it brings the mid-high reproduction known from the SC4070 to a more compact cabinet.

It uses an Air Motion Transformer RS3.1 for the highs, a specially designed 4-inch midrange driver and a woofer for the lows. The mid and woofer are SilverCone-type drivers already used in other EVE models.

Amplifier power is 50 W for the tweeter, 100 W for the mid and 185 W for the woofer, 335 W in total per speaker. Frequency range is 35 Hz to 25 kHz, maximum SPL per pair is 110 dB, with crossovers at 320 Hz and 2800 Hz.

The maker positions it for recording, mastering and home studios. The front SMART-knob handles volume and filters, and an All Black Edition is available.

Tri-amplified three-way design

Separate amplifiers drive highs, mids and lows. The maker explains that splitting the bands reduces the load on each driver, which may suit work where the midrange needs clear checking.

AMT RS3.1 and dedicated 4-inch mid

The maker says the Air Motion Transformer and compact midrange driver are paired to transmit highs and mids without hype.

SilverCone drivers with copper-cap magnets

Bass and mid drivers use a low-distortion copper-cap magnet system and a fiberglass-coated honeycomb diaphragm.

Filters on the SMART-knob

High-shelf (above 3 kHz), mid (1 kHz), desk and low-shelf (below 300 Hz) filters are adjusted from the front. The desk filter helps reduce low-mid buildup caused by desk reflections.

Input level and position settings

Input level switches between +7 dBu and +22 dBu, and position can be set to flat, desk or console.

Compact cabinet

At 340 x 250 x 310 mm and 9.8 kg, it is relatively small for a three-way, which may suit desktop placement.
