What is Objeq Delay 2?

Objeq Delay 2 is a delay and acoustic-filter plug-in from Applied Acoustics Systems (AAS). It combines classic delay techniques with acoustic resonance based on physical modeling.

Four delay topologies (one-tap, two-tap, four-tap and split) are offered, covering simple echoes through animated multi-tap textures and staggered rhythmic patterns.

Dual modulators offer LFOs plus an envelope follower, RMS and monophonic pitch tracking, so effects can respond to level and performance.

The morphable Objeq filter moves between plate, beam, drumhead and string responses. A new library of 100+ presets and a redesigned interface are included.

Four delay topologies

You can choose one-tap, two-tap, four-tap or split. Trying simple echoes through multi-tap textures in one plug-in may help when you want to change the delay character per song.

Dual modulators, six sources

Besides rectangular, triangular and sine LFOs, you get RMS, an envelope follower and monophonic pitch tracking. You may build delays that react to level or to the notes played.

Morphing Objeq filter

It morphs between plate, beam, drumhead and string responses, and a polarity switch reveals alternate voicings. The filter can be played almost like an instrument.

Psychoacoustic panning

Arrival-time and spectral cues position sounds in the stereo field for a more natural, immersive response. You may try it to add width to a delay.

Low- and high-cut filters

Dual low and high cuts with adjustable Q and 1-, 2- or 4-pole slopes let you tighten lows or smooth highs to shape how present the delay is.

100+ presets

A new library contains over 100 presets. They can serve as starting points that you tweak into your own sounds.

MIDI control and tempo sync

Parameters can be controlled in real time from MIDI knobs and faders, and effects sync to host tempo. It may suit expressive, performance-style control.

Vocal echoes

You may try a subtle delay behind a vocal and use psychoacoustic panning for natural depth.

Space for synths and guitars

Multi-tap modes and filter morphing could be candidates for animated textures.

Performance-responsive effects

Using pitch tracking or the envelope follower, you may try delays that change with the notes or dynamics you play.

Sound design

The resonant filter may add percussive or string-like colours in sound design work.

Who it may suit

  • People looking for echoes with more movement than a standard delay
  • People crafting spatial textures on synths and guitars
  • People who want effects that respond to input
  • AAS users who want the same physical-modeling resonance in an effect
