What is RysUpTune?

RysUpTune is a real-time pitch correction plug-in from Rys Up Audio. It is described as covering everything from transparent correction of small pitch errors to the obvious hard-tuned effect within a single plug-in.

Three controls sit at the centre. According to the maker, Transition sets how fast notes move, Sustain sets how much natural variation stays, and Strength sets how completely the tuner takes over, so the sound can change continuously between natural and heavy.

You choose the key and scale and can switch individual notes on or off on a piano display. If the standard scales (chromatic, major, minor, pentatonic and so on) are not enough, a Custom mode lets you build your own note set.

A separate shift engine can move pitch and formant, the component tied to the size and character of a voice. It ships as AU, VST3 and AAX for macOS (Intel and Apple Silicon) and 64-bit Windows.

Natural to hard-tuned

Presets such as Natural, Subtle Fix, Pop Polish, Hip-Hop and Hard Tune set the character of the correction. Your key and scale stay under your control, so you can swap the feel and compare.

Strength, Transition and Sustain

Correction strength, the speed at which notes glide to the next, and the amount of natural variation retained define the behaviour. You can move between keeping the performance and a deliberate effect on the same screen.

Key, scale and per-note control

Select a root and scale, then tap piano keys to allow or block notes. Besides matching the song key, Custom mode can restrict the tuner to an exact note set.

Pitch and formant shifting

The core pitch moves up to two octaves down or up, and the formant can be moved independently. It supports creative uses beyond correction, such as changing vocal size or layering octaves with the Mix control.

Latency and HQ modes

The maker states a reported delay of 293 samples at 48 kHz (about 6.1 ms) in Realtime mode. Low Latency suits tracking, while HQ gives the finished vocal more analysis.

Groups and RysUpKey link

Instances can be placed into Groups A to D so that changes to correction, key and scale follow across the group. The maker also describes sending a detected key from RysUpKey to every open RysUpTune.

Natural pitch cleanup for singing

Natural presets may let you fix pitch errors while keeping small movements. It could be a candidate for blending a home-recorded vocal.

Hard-tuned rap and pop vocals

Starting from Hard Tune or Hip-Hop and speeding up Transition may produce an obviously processed effect.

Monitoring while tracking

Because it runs in real time, it may be usable on a monitor path so that you hear the effect while singing.

Changing vocal character

Moving the formant separately may make a voice sound larger or smaller, which could also help with streaming or narration.
