What is TS107?

The TS107 is the smallest subwoofer in EVE Audio's ThunderStorm range. It is catalogued as an active 7-inch subwoofer, though the spec table gives the woofer as 6.5 inches.

A 100 W PWM amplifier drives a proprietary 6.5-inch woofer. Frequency range is 36 Hz to 300 Hz and maximum SPL is 102 dB at 1 m. It uses a passive radiator instead of a port, which the maker says avoids port noise.

The rear offers balanced XLR inputs and outputs (stereo in/out, LFE in, LFE/sub out) plus an unbalanced input for the SC203. Controls include a satellite filter (full range / 80 Hz), phase switch (0 / 180 degrees) and a variable subwoofer filter from 60 to 140 Hz.

The DSP only affects the bass driver, while the signal to the satellite speakers stays purely analog. A remote is included and adjusts both the subwoofer and the whole system volume from the listening position.

Passive radiator design

A passive radiator supplements the bass instead of a port. The maker says this avoids air turbulence noise and port resonance and lets compact cabinets tune lower.

6.5-inch woofer with PWM amplifier

A 100 W PWM amplifier drives a proprietary 6.5-inch woofer, with response from 36 Hz to 300 Hz, which may help extend lows your main monitors do not reach.

Stereo and LFE connections

Balanced XLR inputs and outputs (stereo in/out, LFE in, LFE/sub out) support both stereo setups and surround setups using LFE.

Variable crossover and phase switch

The subwoofer filter is variable from 60 to 140 Hz and phase switches between 0 and 180 degrees. These may help blend with the main monitors in your room.

Analog satellite path

DSP only processes the bass driver and the satellite path has no A/D or D/A conversion. The Pure Satellite function bypasses the subwoofer and its DSP filter section.

Remote and SMART-knob

The remote adjusts subwoofer and overall system volume, while the SMART-knob sets and saves filters and volume. Settings can be locked.

Mixes where low end matters

It may suit checking bass that main monitors alone make hard to judge.

Video and surround work

With an LFE input it may serve as the low-frequency channel in surround.

Extending a small-room setup

It may be worth considering when adding bass range to compact monitors at home.

Who it may suit

  • Those who want to add bass to compact monitors
  • Surround producers needing an LFE channel
  • Users who want to adjust volume with a remote

Good to know before you buy

  • It is an active subwoofer and needs mains power.
  • Bass response varies with placement and phase.
  • The catalog name says 7-inch while the spec table gives 6.5 inches.
