Main features of Studio Drummer
Three kits from Pearl, Yamaha and Sonor
Studio Drummer is a drum instrument plug-in for KONTAKT with three drum kits from Pearl, Yamaha and Sonor. It takes 17 GB after unpacking. You can mix the sound of the close, overhead and room microphones in the mixer to adjust the sense of distance.
Patterns played by professional drummers
All the included patterns were played live by professional drummers. The manufacturer explains that this avoids the mechanical feel that programmed drums often have and gives you a natural, human groove. You drag the patterns into your DAW to use them. It includes more than 3,300 grooves, including fills.
The character of the three kits
The Pearl Masters Premium Maple kit has a big, powerful sound for rock and metal. The Yamaha Maple Custom Absolute kit has a clean studio sound that also suits pop and country. Every kit comes with cymbals and two kinds of snare, and also includes tambourine, cowbell, claps and more.

Each criterion is scored from 1 to 5 on how well the product serves one goal: programming the drums for a song. Scores follow the conditions in the table above, and the rank is based on an average in which "Realism and depth" counts double. The basis is official manufacturer information. Sound quality and CPU load are not measured, so they are not scored; reviews from trade magazines are introduced in the articles for reference. Price is not part of the score. Features that cannot be confirmed from the manufacturer's or a retailer's description are scored as if absent.
