What is QuadCast 2 / QuadCast S?

The HyperX QuadCast 2 is a full-aluminum USB microphone aimed at streamers, gamers and content creators. The official page describes it as a refinement of the original QuadCast with a redesigned shock mount and a multifunction knob.

It has three 14 mm electret condenser capsules and four switchable polar patterns: cardioid, omnidirectional, stereo and bidirectional. It is listed as recording at 24-bit, 96 kHz.

The top has a tap-to-mute sensor with a status LED, and the knob adjusts gain, playback volume, monitoring volume and polar pattern. The red lighting can be customized.

The QuadCast S is a current model in the same line, with the same three 14 mm capsules, four polar patterns, tap-to-mute and two-zone RGB lighting.

HP Japan's page lists the QuadCast 2 for game streaming, video production, podcasts, online meetings, instruments, vocals and ASMR. A rotary knob and button adjust gain, volume, zero-latency monitoring and polar pattern without software.

A higher model, the QuadCast 2 S, adds 32-bit/192 kHz recording and RGB lighting; HP says basic operation is shared.

The QuadCast S has a gain dial on the underside, a built-in pop filter and an elastic rope shock mount, and is listed as Discord and TeamSpeak certified and compatible with OBS, Streamlabs OBS and XSplit.

Four polar patterns

You can switch between cardioid, omnidirectional, stereo and bidirectional. It may handle conversations or multi-person recordings as well as solo use.

Three 14 mm capsules

Both the QuadCast 2 and QuadCast S list three 14 mm electret condenser capsules.

Tap-to-mute with LED

Tapping the top mutes the mic and the LED shows status. It may help when you need to mute quickly while live.

Multifunction knob on QuadCast 2

The knob adjusts gain, playback volume, monitoring volume and polar pattern. It may suit people who want controls in one place.

USB-C and 3.5 mm monitoring

It connects over USB-C with a 3.5 mm headphone output for monitoring. The QuadCast 2 includes a USB-C cable and a USB-A adapter.

HyperX NGENUITY software

Tuning, monitoring and lighting can be handled in the HyperX NGENUITY software.

Multifunction knob

Holding the knob's center button cycles through four polar patterns, shown by LED.

Pogo-pin shock mount

It attaches and detaches with a 10-degree twist and uses an elastic rope suspension. A universal mount must accommodate 55 mm and not block the knob.

QuadCast S extras

A built-in pop filter, a mount adapter for 3/8 and 5/8 inch threads and 2-zone RGB lighting.
