What is PURE TUBE?
PURE TUBE is a tube-powered studio condenser microphone from Austrian maker LEWITT. The official page presents it as a premium option for vocal recording, built around a 1-inch gold-sputtered cardioid capsule and a hand-selected tube.
The signal path is described as having no semiconductors or capacitors, and the self-noise is listed at 7 dB(A). LEWITT says this low noise floor suits vocal layering and heavy compression.
Because it is a tube microphone, it runs from a dedicated external power supply instead of ordinary phantom power. A 7-pin XLR cable connects the two, and the compact supply accepts 230 V/50 Hz or 110 V/60 Hz for use worldwide.
It is sold as an Essential set (microphone mount, 7-pin XLR cable, transport bag) or a Studio set (shock mount, Pop filter XL, 7-pin XLR cable, transport case). A magnetic pop filter attaches directly to the shock mount.
Hand-selected tube
A 12AU7/ECC82 tube is chosen by hand for each unit. LEWITT says it adds warmth and a smooth high end, which may interest those who want tube character at the recording stage.
1-inch gold-sputtered capsule
The capsule uses a 25.4 mm (1 in), 3 µm gold-sputtered Mylar diaphragm with a cardioid pattern, aimed at picking up the voice in front while reducing sound from the sides and rear.
Ultra-low self-noise
The signal path avoids semiconductors and capacitors, with self-noise listed at 7 dB(A) and dynamic range at 125 dB(A). It may help when quiet and loud passages are recorded with the same microphone.
Magnetic pop filter
The pop filter attaches magnetically to the shock mount. It is meant to reduce plosives and low rumble, and makes mounting and positioning straightforward.
Compact worldwide power supply
The external supply is small and low-power, accepting 230 V/50 Hz and 110 V/60 Hz. That is convenient when moving between rooms or travelling.
10-year warranty
LEWITT backs this microphone with a 10-year warranty, which may reassure buyers planning to keep it for many years.

What is included and system requirements
- Essential set: microphone mount, 7-pin XLR cable, transport bag
- Studio set: shock mount, Pop filter XL, 7-pin XLR cable, transport case
- External power supply (described in the features section)
How to use it
- Fit the microphone into its mount or shock mount.
- Connect the microphone to the power supply with the 7-pin XLR cable.
- Run the power supply's XLR output to a mic preamp or audio interface input.
- Plug in the supply and allow a short warm-up for the tube.
- Place the pop filter between the singer and the capsule and adjust distance and angle.
- Set the input gain so the loudest passages do not distort.
- Record a short test to check noise and room sound before the real take.
Vocal recording
Since LEWITT positions it for vocals, it may be a candidate as a main vocal microphone, and the low noise floor could help when stacking vocal layers.
Narration and voice-over
The warmth described by the maker may suit narration or reading work. This is an inference from the specifications.
Heavily compressed productions
With low self-noise, noise may be less noticeable when heavy compression is applied.
Who it may suit
- People interested in a tube microphone for vocal recording
- Producers who stack many vocal layers
- Home studios able to handle a dedicated power supply and 7-pin cable
Good to know before you buy
- A dedicated power supply is required; ordinary phantom power alone does not run it.
- Two sets (Essential and Studio) are sold, with different contents.
- The official page shows no numeric price; check a dealer.
- At 692 g, a sturdy microphone stand may be needed.
