What is RAY?

The LEWITT RAY is an XLR microphone built around a 1-inch condenser capsule. The official page describes AURA, a sensor-based system that tracks your distance and adjusts level and tone as you move.

It is based on the studio LCT 440 PURE and lists podcasting, streaming and music recording as uses. The signal path is 100% analog.

Muting includes 'MUTE by Distance', which mutes when you step away and goes live when you approach, plus a dedicated analog MUTE button. The compact design is meant to stay out of camera view.

It runs on 48 V phantom power through an audio interface or mixer. A magnetic pop filter, foam windscreen and shock mount are included.

The maker says AURA is a sensor that measures the distance between you and the mic and adapts level and tone across 5 to 100 cm. MUTE by Distance mutes automatically when you move beyond a chosen range of 15, 30, 45, 60 or 80 cm, with -70 dB attenuation.

It shares its analog circuit with the LCT 440 PURE. A dedicated mute button works in the analog domain even while MUTE by Distance is active, and a lock mode is included.

AURA distance tracking

A sensor tracks your distance and adjusts level and tone as you move, according to the official page. It may help people who move while speaking.

MUTE by Distance

It mutes when you step away and goes live when you return. That may suit streamers who leave the desk.

Dedicated analog mute

A dedicated mute button is on the body, with -70 dB attenuation listed.

1-inch true condenser capsule

Based on the LCT 440 PURE, with 8 dB(A) self-noise and 131 dB max SPL listed.

Fully analog signal path

The signal path is analog. It uses XLR rather than USB, connecting to an interface or mixer.

Included accessories

A shock mount, magnetic pop filter, foam windscreen and transport bag are included.

AURA range

The sensor measures continuously and adjusts across 5 to 100 cm.

Selectable mute distances

Five steps: 15, 30, 45, 60 and 80 cm.

Compact, camera-friendly body

A 138 x 52 x 36 mm zinc die-cast body that avoids a pop filter in front of the face.

Included accessories

The shock mount and magnetic pop filter attach together; a foam windscreen (LCT 44 WX) and transport bag are included.
