What is Space Replicator Free?

Space Replicator Free is a free virtual monitoring tool from LEWITT, the Austrian microphone maker, designed for mixing on headphones. It runs as a plugin in a DAW and also as a standalone application.

It works by recreating captured real rooms and playback systems as virtual acoustic spaces over headphones. Headphone compensation is applied at the same time, so the sound is nudged toward a mixing-oriented response.

The free edition offers three playback environments: LEWITT Studio A, a living room setup, and H-Pods Pro in-ear headphones. More than 800 headphone compensation profiles are available, so you can match the tool to the headphones you own.

The paid Space Replicator adds more studios, translation spaces and live venues. The free edition uses the same approach and is a way to try it first.

Virtual monitoring spaces

Recreates captured real rooms and playback systems over headphones. It may help when you cannot use speakers or your room acoustics are a concern.

800+ headphone profiles

Pick your headphone model from the list and its frequency response is compensated, so you can check a mix with the model's own tendencies reduced.

Phone and laptop checks

Lets you hear how a mix may translate on phone and laptop speakers while staying on headphones, which can be handy as a last check before export.

H-Pods Pro earbud simulation

Includes a simulation of in-ear listening through H-Pods Pro, which could be a reference when your audience mostly listens on earbuds.

Plugin and standalone

Available as VST3, AAX and AU plugins plus a standalone application for music and video playback, so finished tracks can be checked without opening a DAW.

Headphone mixing at home

When speakers are hard to use in your room, it may let you check a mix with a room-like presentation over headphones.

Final check before export

It may suit quick checks of how a mix could sound on phone and laptop speakers.

Video and streaming audio

The standalone app may help you play video and imagine the playback environments your audience uses.

Who it may suit

  • People who mix mainly on headphones
  • People who want to check several playback environments before finishing
  • People who want to try the approach before considering the paid edition

Good to know before you buy

  • The free edition has three environments, fewer than the paid edition.
  • The paid edition's page says an internet connection is needed for initial setup and every 4 weeks; check the official page whether the same applies to the free edition.
  • Compensation depends on choosing your headphone model.
