What is Rubix24?
The Rubix24 is a 2-in/4-out USB audio interface from Roland, part of the Rubix series. It supports up to 24-bit/192 kHz and works with Mac, PC and iPad.
Its two mic preamps use XLR/phone combo jacks, and input 1 has a Hi-Z switch for guitar. The maker highlights low-noise design and extensive shielding, describing the preamps as clean and transparent with plenty of headroom.
Four outputs support routing such as sending a click to a performer, a stage monitor feed or external gear. It also has a hardware compressor/limiter, MIDI in/out and ground lifts for use in varied venues.
Large level indicators remain readable in dark studios or on stage. Six months of Roland Cloud Pro membership are included.
24-bit/192 kHz
A/D and D/A conversion support 44.1, 48, 96 and 192 kHz, with 24 bits on the PC side.
Hardware compressor/limiter
It helps tame dynamic vocals and percussion before clipping, with a threshold knob and type switch.
2-in/4-out with loopback
Four outputs separate clicks and monitors, and a loopback switch could suit streaming.
MIDI in/out
MIDI IN and OUT jacks connect synths, keyboards and other MIDI gear.
Large level indicators
They show signal presence and overload clearly even from a distance.
Shielding and metal build
The metal chassis, extensive shielding and ground lifts are meant to keep noise low.
