7 Singing Voice Synthesizers for Home Recording: Compared by Purpose (2026)

A singing voice synthesizer is software that sings when you enter a melody and lyrics. You use it to make virtual-singer songs, guide vocals for demos and choruses. Recently AI products that recreate how a person sings are the mainstream, and the languages it can sing, the computers and smartphones it works on, and whether it can be used inside a DAW (music production software) differ by product. Many products have you choose a “voice” (a voice library) separately from the software itself.

This list compares 7 singing voice synthesizers on 3 criteria: ai features, languages it can sing, where you can use it. Scores are decided by how well each product serves its purpose, using the conditions for each criterion, and the basis is official manufacturer information. Price is not part of the score.

Tier list by rank

Ranks are based on the manufacturer's official features and specifications, not on sound quality. Within a row, products are ordered by score. The basis is explained in How we rate specifications.

Tier table by criterion

Products with the same overall rank can have different strengths. Click a column heading to sort by the rank on that criterion, and use it when you choose by the feature you want.

How to choose a singing voice synthesizer

Figure: SoundBounty

The language you want it to sing

If you only make Japanese songs, most products are enough. If you also want it to sing in English or Chinese, choose a product that supports many languages.

The computer and DAW you use

If you use a Mac, check Mac support, and if you want to use it inside a DAW, check that it supports plug-ins. VoiSona also works on iPhone and iPad.

How to choose a voice

Many products have you choose a voice separately from the software itself. Checking on the official site first whether there is a voice you like makes it easier not to fail.

Each criterion is scored from 1 to 5 on how well the product serves one goal: making a singing voice from a melody and lyrics. Scores follow the conditions in the table above. They are criteria chosen to match common searches about AI, singing in English, and whether it works on a Mac or a phone. The basis is official manufacturer information (official sites and manuals) and the Plugin Boutique product page. How natural the voice sounds has not been compared by ear, so it is not scored. Price and the number of voices are not part of the score. Features that cannot be confirmed from the manufacturer's or a retailer's description are scored as if absent.

The thinking behind scores and ranks is summarized in How we rate specifications. We add products in order.
