What is SC305?

The SC305 is an active three-way nearfield monitor from EVE Audio. The maker says it is designed to work in stereo or surround and as a center channel.

It uses an Air Motion Transformer RS3 for the highs and two 5-inch SilverCone drivers, the same as in the SC205, for mid and woofer. One covers bass up to 350 Hz and the other covers the range from 350 Hz to 3000 Hz.

Three amplifiers drive them, at 50 W each for tweeter, mid and woofer, 150 W in total. Frequency range is 50 Hz to 21 kHz and maximum SPL per pair is 108 dB.

The cabinet can be placed horizontally or vertically, and the front SMART-knob adjusts volume and filters. An All Black Edition is available.

Two 5-inch woofers in a three-way layout

One woofer reaches 350 Hz and the other covers up to 3000 Hz. The maker says this reduces each driver's workload for greater efficiency.

AMT RS3 tweeter

An Air Motion Transformer with a folded diaphragm handles the highs, described by the maker as accurate with low distortion.

Suited to center-channel use

The maker says it works in stereo or surround and as a center channel, which may be relevant to video work.

Horizontal or vertical placement

The official response graphs show both horizontal and vertical configurations, allowing placement to suit your space.

SMART-knob operation

High-shelf, desk, low-shelf and position (flat / desk / console) settings are adjusted from the front. The mid EQ is not available on this model.

Crossovers and power

Crossovers are at 350 Hz and 3000 Hz. Maximum consumption is 110 VA and standby is under 1 W.
