What is Revelator io24 / io44?

Revelator io44 is a USB-C audio interface from PreSonus aimed at recording, streaming and podcasting. It is a 1-in/1-out unit with a built-in streaming mixer and onboard effects.

The microphone input uses a digitally controlled XMAX-L preamp with +48V phantom power and a 60 dB gain range. A combo input accepts guitars and similar gear, and a 1/8-inch stereo line input suits DJ mixers.

StudioLive gate, compression, EQ, reverb and voice effects are processed on the unit, so they do not use the computer's CPU. Presets can be stored on the unit, which supports stand-alone operation.

A mixer blends audio from up to three applications, intended for handling streaming software, call software and music together. The sibling io24 has two microphone preamps and is currently shown as discontinued on the official page.

XMAX-L mic preamp

A digitally controlled preamp with high headroom, specified at -128 dBu EIN and 0.005% THD+N.

Per-app mixer

Audio from up to three applications is blended, which may suit adjusting calls, music and streaming software separately.
