What is Lucid?
Lucid is a granular effect from Minimal Audio. It splits a sound into very short pieces (grains) and reassembles them to make textures, harmonies and rhythmic effects (per the manufacturer).
It can fit each grain to a scale you choose and sync to the tempo of your song, so you can use it without leaving the key or the tempo (per the manufacturer).
Features
An effect that splits a sound into grains and reassembles it
It is a granular effect that can turn any sound, such as a synth, vocal or drums, into something you have never heard. Minimal Audio says its distinguishing feature is that the resulting sound can be used while staying in key and in time.
Scale-lock: fit the key of your song automatically
Ordinary granular effects do not care about the key of a song. Lucid detects the pitch of each grain and readjusts it in real time (per the manufacturer). Even when you transpose or make harmonies, the sound is less likely to go out of key.
Timeline sync: move in time with your song
You can snap to the grid, align to the position of the attack, and scan through a loop in real time. Every movement stays aligned with the timeline, and you can check it on the waveform display.
Effects on each grain
Each grain has its own effects and changes over time. You can add fine movement that is hard to make with a separate effect.
Number of presets
It includes 13 packs and more than 350 presets (per the manufacturer). They are divided by purpose into Core, Tuned, Harmony, Arps, Stretch, Stutter, Motion, Scrub, Delay and more.
