What is Evoke?
Evoke is a vocal effect from Minimal Audio. Using a method called “resynthesis”, in which a voice is taken apart and rebuilt, it makes a distinctive vocal sound that is different from pitch correction or a vocoder (per the manufacturer).
It supports macOS 10.11 or later (Apple silicon native) and Windows 10 or later. A 64-bit DAW that supports AAX, AU or VST3 is required (per the manufacturer).
You can compare it with similar products in our harmony and doubling reviews.
Features
Taking a voice apart and rebuilding it
The incoming sound is split into pitch, spectral shape and timbre, each is moved separately, and then the sound is synthesized again. The manufacturer says it differs from earlier methods in that it creates a new signal instead of processing the input as it is.
15 character modes and up to four-voice harmony
There are 15 modes, from a natural choir-like sound to futuristic voices and liquid or noisy textures. Harmony goes up to four voices, and level and pan can be adjusted for each voice (per the manufacturer).
Pitch correction and hard tune
You can adjust from natural tracking to strong hard tune, and also add synth-like portamento (per the manufacturer).
Effects and modulation
Eight kinds of effects can be placed freely in 12 slots. Parameters can be moved with macros, LFOs, a curve sequencer, an envelope follower and more. You can go deeper with MIDI and a sidechain input (per the manufacturer).
Presets
More than 350 presets are included, divided into eight packs (per the manufacturer).
