What is Alpha Evo TwinAlpha Twin Evo?
Alpha Twin Evo (written ALPHA EVO TWIN in Japan) is a 2.5-way active monitor in Focal's Alpha Evo series. It combines a 1-inch aluminum inverted-dome tweeter with two 6.5-inch Slatefiber-cone woofers in a wide cabinet.
Focal names dynamics, neutral tonal balance and wide dispersion giving a broad sweet spot as its qualities. The Media Integration page says it serves producers wanting volume and bass extension, and film composers needing accuracy across the range.
It is designed for horizontal placement, and a rear switch selects which of the two woofers covers the midrange. Keeping the midrange driver on the inside is the recommended placement.
It also shares the series features: XLR, TRS and RCA inputs, bass and treble level settings, a disengageable automatic standby and a large laminar vent. The Japanese distributor page notes that from 2026 the woofer grilles are no longer included.
2.5-way design
Two 6.5-inch woofers and an aluminum tweeter, with a listed response of 38 Hz to 22 kHz (±3 dB) and 108 dB max SPL (peak at 1 m).
Slatefiber woofers
Focal presents Slatefiber cones as aimed at low distortion and neutrality, and notes that tonal balance stays the same at low and high volume.
Midrange driver selector
A rear switch chooses whether the right or left woofer covers the midrange. Placing the midrange driver inside on both speakers is recommended.
Wide dispersion
The inverted-dome tweeter spreads sound widely, aiming to maintain the same sound character if the listening position moves.
Three inputs and adjustments
XLR, TRS and RCA inputs, bass level (±6 dB), treble level (±3 dB), sensitivity and auto standby are provided. It suits desk setups with several devices.
Amplifier configuration
Class D amplification of 2 x 50 W for the bass and 30 W for the treble, 130 W in total, as stated on the Japanese distributor page.
